The role involves check sling angles to stay within the working load limit; inspect slings, shackles and eyebolts for wear, kinks and cracks before each use; carry out daily checks on cranes, hoists and lifting tackle; direct the crane operator with standard hand signals and radio; calculate load weight and centre of gravity before every lift.
