Day-to-day duties: • Select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions • Strike and hold a stable arc with a non-consumable tungsten electrode • Back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring) You should have: • Steady hands and good close-up eyesight • Able to read isometric and fabrication drawings • Able to weld thin-gauge sheet without burn-through Rotating shifts.
