Great opportunity: we are hiring a moulder in Shelby County, Indiana. You will be based in the melting bay of a steel foundry. Requirements: • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling Your main tasks: • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
