Immediate opening: we are hiring a blocklayer in Onondaga County, New York. You will be based at a renovation and extension job. Day-to-day duties: • Pointing and repointing weathered mortar joints • Cutting bricks to size with a bolster and club hammer or angle grinder • Brushing the wall down and removing mortar snots as you go • Mixing mortar to the right consistency with sand, cement and plasticiser • Installing damp-proof courses, lintels and cavity trays You should have: • Own trowel, spirit level and basic hand tools • Able to read construction drawings and setting-out marks • NVQ Level 2 in Bricklaying an advantage 2+ years on the tools preferred.
