We are recruiting: we are hiring a furnace operator in Petersburg Borough, Alaska. You will work in a non-ferrous casting shop. Your main tasks: • Apply mould coatings and dress the mould cavity • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces Ideal candidate: • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Basic grinding and fettling skills Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough. $4,200 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
