Now hiring: we are hiring a cement mason in Champaign County, Illinois. Requirements: • Physically fit for heavy lifting and long hours on your feet • Sound knowledge of concrete grades, slump and curing periods Your main tasks: • Carry out slump tests and cast cubes for the lab • Cut control and expansion joints at the correct spacing • Compact fresh concrete with immersion poker vibrators to clear honeycombing • Give broom or steel-trowel finishes as specified • Float and trowel surfaces with a bull float and power trowel for a smooth finish • Set out levels with a spirit level, line and pins Freshers welcome — about 3 years of practice is enough.
