Join our team: we are hiring a foundry operative in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. You will be based in a non-ferrous casting shop. Ideal candidate: • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards Day to day you will carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring; fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges; pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles; mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture; shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale.
