Immediate opening: we are hiring a sample machinist in Buena Vista County, Iowa. The job is at a knitwear stitching unit. You should have: • Understands fabric types and how to handle knits versus wovens • Quality-conscious with an eye for puckers, skipped stitches and uneven seams • Good eyesight and steady hands for fine, accurate stitching Your main tasks: • Attach collars, cuffs, plackets, pockets and waistbands as per the spec sheet • Stitch seams, hems, side seams and shoulder joins to the marked seam allowance • Keep an even stitch density (SPI) and a straight, consistent seam line • Operate single-needle lockstitch, overlock and flatlock machines on a production line • Match notches and ply, lining up checks and stripes before stitching • Thread the machine, wind bobbins and balance top and bottom tension Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
