The role involves: • Rig and sling loads using slings, shackles and spreader beams • Fit the counterweights and check the ground bearing pressure • Carry out pre-start checks on the crane, wire ropes and hook block • Keep a safe distance from overhead power lines • Hoist, slew and lower loads smoothly and under control • Watch the load moment indicator (LMI) and stay within rated capacity Ideal candidate: • Sound knowledge of rigging and slinging • Current medical and eyesight certificate • Understanding of hand and radio signals Freshers welcome — about 5 years of practice is enough.
