On a typical shift you will wire up the controller, encoder and limit switches; adjust door operator timing and re-levelling accuracy; run load and overload tests with test weights; replace worn sheaves, rollers, contactors and relays. You should have: • Sound electrical competence in three-phase and low-voltage wiring • Good head for heights for pit and car-top work • Comfortable working at height and in confined hoistways 3+ years on the tools preferred.
