You should have: • Comfortable working close to furnaces and molten metal • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Basic grinding and fettling skills On the job you will handle: • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring $180 per day, negotiable for the right hands.
