Foundry worker — City of Petersburg

Urgent requirement: we are hiring a foundry worker in City of Petersburg, Virginia. The job is on the moulding line. What we are looking for: • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings Day-to-day duties: • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough.
