Now hiring: we are hiring a fire and safety officer in Bland County, Virginia. Day to day you will take gas readings with a multi-gas detector before confined-space entry; carry out toolbox talks with the crew before each shift; check PPE such as helmets, goggles, gloves and ear plugs and issue replacements; inspect scaffolding, full-body harnesses and lifelines for work at height; stop unsafe work and brief the supervisor on corrective action; verify lifting gear, slings, shackles and crane test certificates. What we are looking for: • Strong record-keeping and incident-reporting skills • Minimum 2-3 years on construction or factory sites • Able to read and prepare RAMS and method statements Freshers welcome — about 3 years of practice is enough.
