The role involves bevel and grind the joint edges clean before welding; tack components to the jig and check the fit-up against the drawing; set the wire feed speed and voltage to suit the plate thickness; change worn contact tips and gas nozzles on the torch. You should have: • Steady hand and good eyesight for tight tolerances • Willing to work shifts and overtime • Able to pass a 3G/4G plate test Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
