Vacancy available: we are hiring a foundry operative in Decatur County, Iowa. Day-to-day duties: • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Operate the sand muller and the reclamation plant • Pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand Ideal candidate: • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings Freshers welcome — about 3 years of practice is enough.
