You should have: • Clean driving record with no recent endorsements • Confident with manual handling and load securing • Minimum 2 years' long-haul experience On the job you will handle: • Keep a safe following distance, adjusting for weather and load • Plan routes and rest stops in line with driving-hours rules • Check load weight and axle distribution against permitted limits • Couple and uncouple the trailer and check the fifth-wheel lock • Present documents at weighbridges and check posts • Report defects and book the unit in for servicing Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
