On a typical shift you will clean condenser and evaporator coils; recover refrigerant gas before opening a sealed system; braze copper pipework and joints with an oxy-acetylene torch; fault-find control boards and defrost timers; charge systems with refrigerant (R134a, R410a, R404a) to the correct weight; read suction and discharge pressures on the manifold gauges. You should have: • Able to braze copper and silver-solder joints • Available on-call and at weekends for breakdowns • Comfortable handling refrigerant gases and gauge manifolds Freshers welcome — about 1 years of practice is enough.
