Now hiring: we are hiring a gtaw welder in Ontario County, New York. You will be based at a stainless steel fabrication shop. Day to day you will back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring); prep and fit up the joint, then lay tack welds before the full run; strike and hold a stable arc with a non-consumable tungsten electrode; run root passes and fill passes on pipe joints; feed the filler rod by hand while controlling the weld puddle; select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job. You should have: • Comfortable working to tight fit-up tolerances • Steady hands and good close-up eyesight Pay around $2,900 per month, based on your experience.
