On a typical shift you will read reinforcement drawings and bar bending schedules; lay and tie mesh for slabs and ground-bearing floors; form stirrups, links and hooks to the correct dimensions; lift and land prefabricated cages with the crane and banksman; lap and splice bars to the specified lap length. You should have: • Confident tying with a tie hook and handling binding wire • Willing to work outdoors in all weather and to tight pour dates • Own basic tools such as pliers, tie hook, tape and level Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
