Brick and block layer • Upshur County, West Virginia

Urgent requirement: we are hiring a brick and block layer in Upshur County, West Virginia. Your main tasks: • Raking out and tooling the joints to a struck or bucket-handle finish • Buttering the perpends and tapping each brick down to the gauge • Laying bricks to the line, level and plumb • Spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel • Cutting bricks to size with a bolster and club hammer or angle grinder • Installing damp-proof courses, lintels and cavity trays You should have: • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) • Proven experience laying facing and engineering bricks • Able to read construction drawings and setting-out marks Full-time with occasional weekends.
