Vacancy available: we are hiring a brick mason in Gove County, Kansas. You will work at a residential building site. Requirements: • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) • Proven experience laying facing and engineering bricks Your main tasks: • Bedding in air bricks, weep holes and wall starters • Buttering the perpends and tapping each brick down to the gauge • Raking out and tooling the joints to a struck or bucket-handle finish • Cutting bricks to size with a bolster and club hammer or angle grinder • Mixing mortar to the right consistency with sand, cement and plasticiser • Laying bricks to the line, level and plumb Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
