On a typical shift you will select AC for aluminium and DC for stainless and mild steel; back-purge pipe joints with argon so the root does not oxidise; keep the arc length and travel speed consistent; tack weld parts to hold the fit-up before the final run; weld thin stainless steel sheet without burning through; feed filler rod by hand while holding a steady weld pool.
