The role involves set the wire feed speed and voltage to suit the plate thickness; weld in flat, horizontal and vertical-up positions; lay stringer and weave beads on fillet and butt joints; control distortion with a balanced welding sequence; check welds for porosity, undercut and lack of penetration. You should have: • Steady hand and good eyesight for tight tolerances • Able to grind, fit-up and tack independently • Comfortable welding mild steel, stainless and aluminium At least 1 year(s) in a similar role.
