Now hiring: we are hiring a foundry operative in Merthyr Tydfil County Borough, Wales. The job is in a non-ferrous casting shop. Day to day you will tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle; check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand; shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale; prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes. Requirements: • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts Full-time with occasional weekends.
