Vacancy available: we are hiring a tig welder in Ketchikan Gateway Borough, Alaska. You will work at a precision engineering workshop. Day to day you will clean the base metal with a stainless brush and acetone before welding; grind and sharpen tungsten electrodes to the correct taper; run root passes and fill passes on pipe joints; control heat input so thin sheet does not warp; carry out 6G pipe welds where required; back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring). Requirements: • Steady hands and good close-up eyesight • Physically fit to work in confined spaces and at height • Able to read isometric and fabrication drawings Part-time with flexible hours.
