Now hiring: sand plant operator (Louisiana)

Immediate opening: we are hiring a sand plant operator in Grant Parish, Louisiana. You will be based in the melting bay of a steel foundry. Day to day you will fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges; tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle; make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities; assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together; cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch. Ideal candidate: • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough.
