Join our team: we are hiring a furnace operator in Halifax County, Virginia. Ideal candidate: • Basic grinding and fettling skills • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards The role involves: • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Cut off risers, runners and gates with a grinder or torch • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings 2+ years on the tools preferred.
