Immediate opening: we are hiring a blocklayer in Quitman County, Georgia. The job is at a renovation and extension job. Your main tasks: • Pointing and repointing weathered mortar joints • Forming arches, piers and reveals around openings • Cutting bricks to size with a bolster and club hammer or angle grinder • Laying bricks to the line, level and plumb • Buttering the perpends and tapping each brick down to the gauge Requirements: • NVQ Level 2 in Bricklaying an advantage • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) • Proven experience laying facing and engineering bricks Freshers welcome — about 1 years of practice is enough.
