Great opportunity: we are hiring a brick and block layer in City of Newport News, Virginia. Day to day you will building the corners (leads) first and racking back the courses; installing damp-proof courses, lintels and cavity trays; building cavity walls and bedding in wall ties and insulation; bedding in air bricks, weep holes and wall starters; spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel; pointing and repointing weathered mortar joints. Ideal candidate: • Able to lay to line, level and plumb consistently • Proven experience laying facing and engineering bricks Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough.
