Great opportunity: we are hiring an abattoir worker in Bland County, Virginia. You will work in a hotel or restaurant butchery. Requirements: • Quick and accurate on the weighing scales and order maths • Knowledge of halal slaughter and handling where required Day-to-day duties: • Sharpen and hone knives on a steel and whetstone • Take customer orders and advise on cuts and cooking • Keep HACCP hygiene records and sanitise the block and tools • Keep halal cuts separated and clearly handled • Debone shoulders, legs and loins with a boning knife • Portion steaks, chops and cutlets to the ordered weights Six days a week, one day off.
