Argon welder — City and Borough of Salford

Vacancy available: we are hiring an argon welder in City and Borough of Salford, England. You will work in a pipe-spool fabrication yard. On a typical shift you will run root passes and fill passes on pipe joints; strike and hold a stable arc with a non-consumable tungsten electrode; control heat input so thin sheet does not warp; back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring); clean the base metal with a stainless brush and acetone before welding. Ideal candidate: • Comfortable working to tight fit-up tolerances • Physically fit to work in confined spaces and at height • Own basic hand tools and PPE Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
