Tig welder — City of Alexandria

Join our team: we are hiring a tig welder in City of Alexandria, Virginia. You will be based at a stainless steel fabrication shop. On a typical shift you will select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job; back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring); run root passes and fill passes on pipe joints; inspect welds for porosity, undercut and lack of fusion; carry out 6G pipe welds where required; grind and sharpen tungsten electrodes to the correct taper. You should have: • Comfortable working to tight fit-up tolerances • Valid welder certification (ASME IX / ISO 9606 an advantage) • Sound knowledge of shielding gases and tungsten selection Full-time, day shift. Meals and transport allowance provided. Pay around $5,200 per month, based on your experience. Walk-in interviews this week.
