You should have: • Sound knowledge of shielding gases and tungsten selection • Physically fit to work in confined spaces and at height On the job you will handle: • Clean the base metal with a stainless brush and acetone before welding • Grind and sharpen tungsten electrodes to the correct taper • Select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job • Weld stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel in thin gauges • Prep and fit up the joint, then lay tack welds before the full run • Set up the argon shielding gas and check the flow rate at the regulator Rotating shifts.
