You should have: • Sound knowledge of shielding gases and tungsten selection • Steady hands and good close-up eyesight Day to day you will back-purge stainless pipe to stop root oxidation (sugaring); inspect welds for porosity, undercut and lack of fusion; control heat input so thin sheet does not warp; weld stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel in thin gauges.
