Urgent requirement: we are hiring a furnace operator in Clay County, Nebraska. The job is in the melting bay of a steel foundry. What we are looking for: • Willing to work in hot, dusty conditions and rotating shifts • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor Your main tasks: • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Make and bake sand cores for the internal cavities • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings Six days a week, one day off.
