Gtaw welder • Jo Daviess County, Illinois

Great opportunity: we are hiring a gtaw welder in Jo Daviess County, Illinois. You will work in a pipe-spool fabrication yard. Your main tasks: • Select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job • Run root passes and fill passes on pipe joints • Set the amperage on the machine and modulate the current with the foot pedal • Strike and hold a stable arc with a non-consumable tungsten electrode • Grind and sharpen tungsten electrodes to the correct taper What we are looking for: • Own basic hand tools and PPE • Able to weld thin-gauge sheet without burn-through • Sound knowledge of shielding gases and tungsten selection Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough. Performance bonus on top of base pay. Six days a week, one day off. Walk-in interviews this week.
