Requirements: • Comfortable welding mild steel, stainless and aluminium • Steady hand and good eyesight for tight tolerances • Able to grind, fit-up and tack independently Day-to-day duties: • Grind back and re-weld any defective runs • Set the shielding-gas flow on the CO2/argon-mix regulator • Check welds for porosity, undercut and lack of penetration • Weld in flat, horizontal and vertical-up positions • Read fabrication drawings and weld symbols 3+ years on the tools preferred.
