The role involves run butt, fillet, lap and corner joints to spec; keep the arc length and travel speed consistent; set the argon flow on the flowmeter and check the hose for leaks; select AC for aluminium and DC for stainless and mild steel; strike the arc with high-frequency start and control heat with the foot pedal; read welding symbols and joint details off the fabrication drawing. You should have: • Can read fabrication drawings and welding symbols • Able to TIG weld stainless steel and aluminium to a neat standard • Comfortable working off scaffolds and in tight spaces Rotating shifts.
