We are recruiting: we are hiring a machinist in Luton, England. The job is in a textile and apparel unit. On a typical shift you will thread the machine, wind bobbins and balance top and bottom tension; change needles, presser feet and folders to suit the fabric and operation; clear thread jams, re-time the looper and oil the machine before the shift; attach collars, cuffs, plackets, pockets and waistbands as per the spec sheet; stitch seams, hems, side seams and shoulder joins to the marked seam allowance; set armholes and sleeves, easing the cap so there are no puckers. You should have: • Can hit the daily piece-rate target consistently • Comfortable working long hours seated at a fast line Freshers welcome — about 4 years of practice is enough.
