Now hiring: garment machinist (England)

Immediate opening: we are hiring a garment machinist in South Tyneside, England. You will work on an export house sewing floor. On a typical shift you will topstitch and edge-stitch with the correct margin for a clean finish; change needles, presser feet and folders to suit the fabric and operation; keep an even stitch density (SPI) and a straight, consistent seam line; stitch seams, hems, side seams and shoulder joins to the marked seam allowance; sew bartacks and buttonholes and attach buttons where required; match notches and ply, lining up checks and stripes before stitching. You should have: • Comfortable working long hours seated at a fast line • Hands-on with single needle, overlock and flatlock machines • Understands fabric types and how to handle knits versus wovens Part-time with flexible hours.
