Requirements: • Proficient with micrometers, vernier callipers and dial gauges • Safety conscious and comfortable wearing PPE around moving machinery Day-to-day duties: • Run first-off parts and check dimensions before batch production • Set up and operate vertical and horizontal milling machines • Measure features with vernier callipers, micrometers and bore gauges • Monitor tool wear and change blunt inserts and cutters • Apply cutting coolant and clear swarf from the machine bed • Set spindle speeds and feed rates to suit the material and cutter Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
