Great opportunity: we are hiring a fettler in Sir Powys, Wales. The job is at an aluminium die-casting plant. Ideal candidate: • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Knowledge of green-sand and resin-bonded moulding • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings Your main tasks: • Skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring • Prepare green-sand moulds and ram the sand into the moulding boxes • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle • Shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale 3+ years on the tools preferred. £2,100 per month, negotiable for the right hands.
