Furnace operator — East Ayrshire

Vacancy available: we are hiring a furnace operator in East Ayrshire, Scotland. Day-to-day duties: • Melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces • Mix and recondition moulding sand to the right moisture • Check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring • Assemble cope and drag mould halves and clamp them together • Maintain crucibles, ladles and furnace linings • Operate the sand muller and the reclamation plant Ideal candidate: • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Able to read simple casting drawings and job cards 2+ years on the tools preferred.
