Trowel-trade bricklayer — Orkney Islands

Now hiring: we are hiring a trowel-trade bricklayer in Orkney Islands, Scotland. You will work at a renovation and extension job. Ideal candidate: • Sound knowledge of mortar mixes and bonds (stretcher, English, Flemish) • NVQ Level 2 in Bricklaying an advantage • Able to lay to line, level and plumb consistently Your main tasks: • Installing damp-proof courses, lintels and cavity trays • Spreading and furrowing mortar beds with the trowel • Mixing mortar to the right consistency with sand, cement and plasticiser • Forming arches, piers and reveals around openings • Cutting bricks to size with a bolster and club hammer or angle grinder On-the-job training and a clear path to grow. Full-time with occasional weekends. Walk-in interviews this week.
