Ideal candidate: • Steady hands and good close-up eyesight • Comfortable working to tight fit-up tolerances The role involves: • Inspect welds for porosity, undercut and lack of fusion • Set the amperage on the machine and modulate the current with the foot pedal • Carry out 6G pipe welds where required • Clean the base metal with a stainless brush and acetone before welding • Select the tungsten type and gas cup size to suit the job Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough.
