Your main tasks: • Set up the argon shielding gas and check the flow rate at the regulator • Inspect welds for porosity, undercut and lack of fusion • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions • Grind and sharpen tungsten electrodes to the correct taper • Feed the filler rod by hand while controlling the weld puddle • Strike and hold a stable arc with a non-consumable tungsten electrode Requirements: • Steady hands and good close-up eyesight • Physically fit to work in confined spaces and at height Freshers welcome — about 6 years of practice is enough.
