You should have: • Confident with micrometers, vernier calipers and bore gauges • Comfortable standing for long shifts and lifting up to 20 kg On the job you will handle: • Deburr and chamfer machined parts by hand • Check diameters and lengths against the spec sheet • Measure finished parts with micrometers and vernier calipers • Set tool offsets and establish work zero (G54) • Top up coolant and clear swarf from the bed • Change worn carbide inserts and monitor tool wear Freshers welcome — about 2 years of practice is enough.
