Sample machinist • Isle of Wight County, Virginia

Vacancy available: we are hiring a sample machinist in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. You will be based at a knitwear stitching unit. Day to day you will thread the machine, wind bobbins and balance top and bottom tension; change needles, presser feet and folders to suit the fabric and operation; attach collars, cuffs, plackets, pockets and waistbands as per the spec sheet; stitch seams, hems, side seams and shoulder joins to the marked seam allowance; sew bartacks and buttonholes and attach buttons where required; topstitch and edge-stitch with the correct margin for a clean finish. Requirements: • Understands fabric types and how to handle knits versus wovens • Able to read a spec sheet and follow a sewing operation breakdown • Quality-conscious with an eye for puckers, skipped stitches and uneven seams Pay around $2,600 per month, based on your experience.
