Join our team: we are hiring a furnace operator in Washtenaw County, Michigan. You will be based at a brass and bronze foundry. Requirements: • Willing to wear full PPE such as heat-resistant apron, spats and visor • Physically fit to lift heavy moulding boxes and castings You will skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring; tap the furnace and transfer the metal to the ladle; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects; check melt temperature with a pyrometer before pouring; carry out shakeout and knock the castings out of the sand.
