We are recruiting: we are hiring a foundry worker in Chowan County, North Carolina. The job is in the fettling and dressing shop. You should have: • Understanding of safe slinging and crane-ladle signalling • Keen eye for casting defects during inspection • Experience working in a ferrous or non-ferrous foundry Day to day you will melt scrap metal and ingots in induction or cupola furnaces; shot-blast castings to clean off burnt sand and scale; fettle and grind castings to remove flash and rough edges; pour molten metal into the moulds using hand or crane ladles; skim slag and dross off the melt before tapping and pouring; inspect castings for cold shuts, blowholes and shrinkage defects. $230 per day, negotiable for the right hands.
